Job Description:

Southwest Virginia Community College (SWCC) offers career-training programs in numerous technical, industrial and medical fields at a reasonable cost, going so far as to even waive tuition for certain eligible students. Located in Richlands, Virginia, SWCC offers associate’s degrees in such fields as business, education, general studies, liberal arts and science. These degrees are primarily intended for students who wish to transfer to a four-year university. SWCC also has associate’s degrees that feature programs intended to lead directly to a career in fields such as Nursing, Radiography and Administration of Justice.

Southwest Community College invites applications for adjunct faculty positions. The College seeks faculty who will adapt to a variety of teaching situations, can use technology to teach effectively, and will work effectively with students, staff, and others in a climate that promotes cultural diversity and student success.

Other responsibilities include participation in the following: achievement of the College's mission and goals; upholding the College's values; and personal and program evaluation.

Purpose of Position:
Teach Criminal Justice in face to face, online, and HyFlex courses.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in criminal justice from an accredited institution or a Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in criminal justice from an accredited institution.
  • Prepare and deliver lectures, discussions, and lab activities in criminal justice.
  • Assess student performance through assignments, tests, and examinations.
  • Provide academic support and mentoring to students.
  • Callaborate with the program director to review, develop, and revise curriculum offerings.
  • Maintain currency in the field of criminal justice through professional development.
  • Participate in departmental and college activities as required.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
Current, relevant experience in law enforcement or corrections.
