General Description of Position
Under the general supervision of the Associate Dean, and the Program Chair, the Adjunct Instructor, Criminal Justice is responsible for providing instruction to students in various Criminal Justice courses in a classroom (with possible distance learning/Interactive TV) and online. This is a part-time temporary position.

This position will teach in Lincoln, Beatrice, or online. Teaching assignments for this position include, but are not limited to:
    • Introduction to Criminal Justice
    • Introduction to Corrections
    • Courts & Judicial Process
    • Criminal Law
    • Police & Society
    • Criminal Procedures
    • Juvenile Justice
    • Criminology
    • Ethics in Criminal Justice
    • Criminal Investigation
    • Report Writing in Criminal Justice

 


The instructor develops course objectives, implements teaching strategies, which include but are not limited to multimedia presentations and computer-aided instruction, monitors and evaluates student progress, and keeps accurate student records. The instructor will deliver instruction in a classroom setting and/or online.

Essential Functions:
The instructor will utilize a variety of instructional and engaging strategies in the face-to-face and online classroom that are appropriate to individual student needs and may include but are not limited to, multimedia presentations and computer-aided instruction, lectures, small groups, and demonstrations.
Be willing to develop and instruct curriculum in an online format.

Provide for Student Evaluation and Record Keeping: Prepare and administer evaluation instruments and maintain accurate student records on attendance, achievement, and progress.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field; Master’s degree within 3 years of employment which includes at least 18 hours of graduate credit in Criminal Justice or a related field.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in the field of Criminal Justice or related field.
  • Experience in working in online classroom delivery systems or the ability to learn to teach in the online community.

Desired Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field.
  • Teaching experience at secondary or post-secondary level that applies directly to area(s) of instructional responsibility.
  • Five (5) years or more of work experience in the field.
