Waubonsee Community College is accepting applications for a part-time instructor for Developmental Math courses.

Adjunct Faculty are responsible for providing instruction and formatively and summatively assessing student learning. This position requires a professional with excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to effectively use instructional and classroom technology to enhance teaching and learning.

Reporting to the Dean, Adjunct Faculty prepare course syllabi and design lessons, activities, assignments, and assessments to address different learning styles and ensure that students successfully meet the course objectives and outcomes. They also incorporate learning centered principles and concepts and motivate students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational experience. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for student evaluation as well as timely and accurate reporting such as attendance verifications, academic progress, and final course grades.

Successful Adjunct Faculty employ a holistic approach to student success, bring passion and enthusiasm to the classroom, and are collaborative with students and colleagues. They work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, gender identities, language groups, and abilities. Demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Spring 2024 position- applicant must have availability and specific experience with one of the following classes:

  • Basic Mathematic Skills (In-person and online)
  • Algebra Foundations I (In-person and online) Algebra Foundations II (In-person and online)

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics or Math Education from an accredited college, required.

Competency in technologies commonly used in college level instruction.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in Mathematics

Previous teaching experience in Developmental Math courses.
