Position Summary:

Working under the supervision of the Counseling and Wellness Counselors, the Educational Assistant provides mental health programming to support the Counseling and Wellness office objectives. The Educational Assistant’s main function is to assist students in community resources and planning presentations.

Example of Job Duties:

Under the direction of the Counselors from the Counseling and Wellness Center, the Wellness Programming Coordinator is responsible for the following through effective performance in these essential duties:

  • Planning and implementation of student mental health programming, with a particular focus on students who are traditionally underserved.
  • Coordinating with the Dean of Student Affairs and Counseling and Wellness Center staff to coordinate efforts to ensure students have access to necessary mental health support.
  • Conducting outreach to and collaborating with community-based mental health-related agencies.

Incumbents must possess proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.).

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related field, including but not limited to social work, human services, psychology, and relevant practical experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties; or a combination of education, training and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with event planning and/or programming.
  • Experience working with non-traditional college students.
  • Understanding of high-risk populations and best practices to serve them in higher education.

Salary:

$37.48 hourly.
