Job Description:
Seeking energetic and engaging Adjunct Faculty to teach High School Equivalency courses. The incumbent will provide classroom instruction to students who seek a high school diploma, preparing the student to take and pass the High School Equivalency Exam. High School Equivalency courses include Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Test Prep. Classes may be offered days, evenings, or weekends.
Duties include delivering strong classroom instruction, lesson planning and monitoring student attendance hours and progress. Responsibilities also include:
- Teach content needed to pass the high school equivalency exam;
- Develop lesson plans that address students' needs and preparation to pass high school equivalency exams;
- Create and maintain a classroom that encourages learning and respect;
- Monitor student learning and adjust instruction as needed to address student needs;
- Maintain attendance records, communication with students, student progress and concerns;
- Work with the program coordinator regarding testing, documentation and program development and implementation
- Provide differentiated instruction to address various student needs and styles;
- Incorporate student-centered teaching strategies to meet the various learning needs;
- Participate in monthly professional development opportunities.
Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree and one year of practical experience teaching content areas and HSE/GED Preparation Courses. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication and presentation skills are required; the ability to establish a rapport with students and maintain an environment that supports learning and promotes student retention, experience teaching remotely, and experience using an LMS are also required. Successful candidates must demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of a diverse population and can work effectively with students who have barriers to employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's Degree preferred. Candidates who are highly organized & detail oriented, with experience teaching adult learners and at-risk populations strongly preferred.
Additional Information:
POSITION EFFECTIVE: The position will remain open until filled.
HOURLY RATE OF PAY: $55.61 per hour. No benefits.
WORK SCHEDULE: Three hours per day, four days per week (Monday- Thursday). Evenings (6:00pm-9:00pm) and mornings (9:00am-12:00pm) required.
