Job Summary: Provide technical leadership and LEO SATCOM engineering management for a project team. Apply LEO SATCOM engineering processes and skills to systematically convert customer needs into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Responsible for systems planning, system and lower level requirements development, system design, analyses and trade studies, hardware/software design oversight, system integration, system level test, and subcontractor technical management/oversight. Prove input and support for project risk management activities. This position typically works under general supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of RF parameter applicable to LEO SATCOM (patterns, squint, G/T, Gain, link margin, etc.)

  • Knowledge of LEO constellations, acquisition, and tracking

  • Working knowledge of SATCOM modems applicable to acquisition and tracking

  • SE with strong Software and Controls background

  • Determine Antenna Control Unit (ACU) controls requirements for LEO

  • Work with selected LEO SATCOM Network Providers to ensure compliance

  • Translation from Modem to Antenna

  • Beam steering control

  • COTM algorithms for maintaining beam pointing and link

  • Develop, implement and test ACU controls as per requirements

  • Ideal candidate understands: make-before-break, doppler, multipath, Receive Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI), beacons

  • Ensure compliance to Modem Interface standards

  • Perform technical risk management activities

  • Support SATCOM engineering activities for proposal efforts

  • Monitor, mentor, and train less experienced SATCOM engineers

  • This is an on-site position, 9/80 schedule.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Four-year college degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline, plus 10 years SATCOM, 15 years Software/Controls, 20+ years of Industry Experience/Leadership Experience in creating, analyzing, documenting and testing system and subsystem designs. Effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to use personal computer software such as spreadsheets and word processing programs and requirement management database tool. Mental ability to perform engineering problem solving and analytical tasks. Must be able to work under project deadlines and associated cost and schedule constraints. Must be a United States Citizen. Must be able to obtain a Security Clearance, if necessary.

Cubic Pay Range San Diego only:

$137,172 - $197,472 + benefits.

The Cubic pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
