Faculty, Sport & Movement Science (Exercise Science), Full-Time, Temporary, Fall 2024

Job Description

The Sport & Movement Science (SMS) department invites applications for a full time, temporary faculty role beginning in Fall 2024. Applicants will teach exercise physiology undergraduate courses. Preferred areas of interest include exercise physiology and nutrition. Professional certification(s) and membership in professional organization(s) are preferred. 

 

The SMS department houses an accredited Masters in Athletic Training program (CAATE), one of only five in the region and only such public university program in the Commonwealth. Undergraduate courses needing to be taught serve this program, as well as the Commonwealth Honors program emphasizing student research.

Please Note: This is a full-time, temporary position covering for an active duty military member.

Candidates are required to perform duties in accordance with the MSCA contract. Duties include teaching, advising, and contributions to continuously improve the department and university. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. The position is subject to available funding.

Required Qualifications:

  • A PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in exercise physiology, exercise science, or related health discipline, or ABDs in the same fields with significant progress on the dissertation.
  • Previous teaching experience at the college/university level.
  • Experience using instructional technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Evidence of scholarly research in exercise science, sport psychology, or related fields.
  • Professional certification(s) and membership in professional organization(s).
