We are currently seeking a Microbiology Technician - Part Time. This entry-level position is responsible for supporting Microbiology Associates and Manufacturing Teams at Ajinomoto Bio-Pharma Services and is a vital role within our Quality Control (QC) group. This role includes performing Environmental Monitoring (EM) of the critical utility systems in controlled classified cleanroom areas. The Microbiology Technician performs EM sample collection according to standard operating procedures and adheres to all cGMP and GDP regulations. This role will train on proper aseptic technique practices. Strict adherence to proper safety guidelines and aseptic behavior within cleanrooms and QC laboratories is required.
Responsibilities:
- Collects environmental monitoring (EM) samples within the Drug Product manufacturing suites, Drug Substance cleanrooms, and outside warehouse facilities.
- Early morning start time attendance may be required for water system sampling.
- Performs plate count enumeration, subculture streaking and Gram staining of bacterial and fungal isolate colonies.
- Responsible for sample submissions
- Sampling of critical utilities including water, steam, and compressed gasses.
- Must complete area-specific gown training and exemplify aseptic cleanroom behavior.
- Maintains Micro lab area including routine cleaning of benches, biosafety cabinets, incubators, equipment, shelving and floors.
- Supports 6S initiatives in Micro lab area including material inventory, and weekly lab audits.
- Performs data entry of EM results accurately into MODA software.
- Additional QC laboratory support as required by business needs (i.e., buffer prep, purchase ordering, etc.).
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to perform work in compliance with cGMPs. Accountable for meeting training due dates to support daily operations.
- Embodies Ajinomoto Bio-Pharma Services cultural values and aligns daily actions with department goals and company culture.
- Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal and external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company policies and practices.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 0-1 years of relevant experience in laboratory setting or quality control.
- Ability to perform job function in a highly accurate and reproducible manner.
- Detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be familiar with Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn EM data tracking software.
The anticipated hourly range for candidates who will work in California is $16.50 - $22.80.
