Job Description
Job Summary
The Accountant II is responsible for all accounting financial analysis, financial reporting requirements, cash/revenue monitoring, and audit schedule preparations. Prepares income and balance sheet statements, consolidated statements, and various other accounting statements, reports, and records using accounting principles.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Prepare statements and reports related to assigned area of responsibility.
Assist in preparing year end entries and respond to any items related to entries and reconciliations for the assigned area.
Completes routine accounting assignments and assists with month-end and year-end close processes.
Interacts with internal and external auditors, as well as funding agencies relating to accounting matters.
Prepares period closing entries including accruals, deferrals and recurring entries.
Prepare annotated statistical reports, which detail financial operations (eg, cash receipts and expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, profit and loss, etc).
Analyze financial information and prepares reports to summarize current and projected financial position of College.
Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts.
Audits contracts, orders, and vouchers and prepares reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement.
Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business related field with at least eighteen (18) hours of Accounting required
- 8 years directly-related work experience may be substituted in lieu of degree
- 3 years experience in an Accounting related field is required
Licensing & Certification
- Valid Texas Driver License

Working Conditions
General Office. Must be able to perform all job requirements with or without reasonable accommodations; remain in a stationary position during shift; move items weighing up to 25 pounds; position self to operate job equipment; apply established protocols in a timely manner. Must access, input and retrieve information from technology devices; communicate with others to accomplish job requirements. May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
