The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at NC State is recognized as one of the premier national and international academic and research programs. The Department contains 24 tenure/tenure-track faculty members, 3 teaching faculty, 21 postdoctoral scholars and senior researchers, and about 250 graduate and undergraduate students. The faculty perform cutting- edge research, teach and provide international leadership in broad areas of materials research, including electronic, dielectric, optical, magnetic, energy and structural materials, metallurgy, nanoscience/nanotechnology, soft matter, biological materials, structural characterization, energy storage and computational materials.
Raleigh is a growing, dynamic city located in the Research Triangle, a region with a population of over 2.2 million known for its high-tech industries and high concentration of universities.

Essential Job Duties
As part of a significant expansion in the College of Engineering, the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at North Carolina State University (NC State) invites applications for multiple faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor (tenure/tenure-track). We welcome applicants from all areas of materials science and engineering, with a preference for those specializing in computational and theoretical research.

Minimum Education and Experience
- PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, or in a related science or engineering discipline.
Other Required Qualifications
- Ability to contribute to undergraduate and graduate student education.
- Establish active externally funded research programs and to achieve excellence in teaching and training at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- For Senior-Level Applicants: Demonstrated leadership in collaborative research, a strong publication record, and a vision for advancing multidisciplinary efforts.
