Summary of Position

The Network Stewardship Coordinator will have several key areas of responsibility and will play an important role in the mission, future growth, and impact of the UNH Sustainability Institute. Sustainability, which we understand to mean a collective commitment to human dignity for all people and ecological integrity for all places, is a core value at UNH. This focused position will provide essential program coordination capacity to our team. It will be responsible for day-to-day support and implementation of several programs, including a summer Sustainability Fellowship program that engages graduate and undergraduate students and host sites from across the nation; in-person and virtual speaker series and engagement events for current students and alumni; and the development and management of critical partnerships and networks. The ideal candidate will be highly collaborative, entrepreneurial, detail-oriented, and excited to work with students, alumni, and partners from community organizations (regional businesses, nonprofits, and municipalities). This position can be in-person or hybrid, with 2-3 days a week on campus, will include travel across the state and region to represent UNHSI at industry events or partner meetings regularly, and will include some work on evenings and weekends.

  • 4 years experience (with Bachelor’s Degree) or 2 years experience (with Master’s Degree)
  • Commitment to, and strong understanding of, sustainability as embodied in the UN Sustainable Development Goals
  • A high degree of organization and attention to detail, particularly in program logistics and stakeholder communication
  • Experience and demonstrated effectiveness in communicating to and building strong and effective relationships with a broad array of stakeholders (i.e., established sustainability professionals and other community partners, alumni community members as well as current students)
  • Experience delivering high-quality, professional programs and events
  • Experience with and excitement about working a in a collaborative, team-based environment
  • Exceptional demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, and ability to tailor communications appropriately for different audiences
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and high capacity to work in a fluid, fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility, patience, diplomacy and empathy
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively, take initiative, and problem-solve
  • Experience in customer service or other role oriented toward anticipating and meeting the needs of clients/stakeholders

Duty/Responsibility

Working closely with supervisor, coordinate Sustainability Fellowship program development and implementation
  • Develop and maintain program calendar to meet internal deadlines and benchmarks
  • Create/update program materials for promotion, recruitment, and implementation
  • Serve as a primary information source for Fellows, potential host organizations, group advisors, and alumni
  • Support Fellows recruitment, hiring, onboarding, program events, and communication
  • Coordinate program logistics, in collaboration with other members of the UNHSI team

Duty/Responsibility

Design and deliver engagement opportunities for UNH alumni and current students:
  • Coordinate the Changemaker Speaker Series, which aims to shine a light on innovative solutions by bringing inspiring leaders to campus each semester. This includes helping to identify speakers from UNH’s alumni and partner networks and coordinate with them to prepare for the events; working with faculty to incorporate the program into their syllabi; marketing to students; and overseeing logistics
  • Coordinate new Sustainability Career Speaker Series, drawing from alumni network. Responsibilities include identifying speakers, working with faculty to incorporate the program into syllabi, marketing to students, overseeing logistics, and program evaluation
  • Help to design and manage a new alumni mentoring program, pairing UNHSI alumni with current students to develop strong connections and new pathways for mutual opportunity
  • Partner with UNH Sustainability Institute to allow them to achieve their own sustainability goals by hosting UNH students/student teams through the summer Sustainability Fellows, the new Semester for Impact, B impact and Climate Action Clinics, and others

Duty/Responsibility

Coordinate a process for the cultivation and engagement of alumni and community partners:
  • Help identify and engage alumni (from our programs) as well as UNH alumni who work in sustainability, and broader community partners
  • Working closely with communications staff, create opportunities for regular communications with the alumni network
  • Design and organize events (in-person or virtual) to convene and connect the network (e.g. meet-ups, LinkedIn content), including a virtual alumni webinar series
  • Engage directly with alumni and collaborate with UNHSI leadership and UNH’s Alumni Relations
  • Help create a system for managing and expanding the relationship with existing community partners, and support SI leadership in cultivating and welcoming new partners into our network
  • Work with communications staff to create opportunities for regular communications to the partner network

Duty/Responsibility

Other Required Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Participate in regular SI staff meetings
  • Participate in planning and coordination efforts with other staff as needed
  • Provide timely data for UNHSI’s STARS reports and annual reports, for use in evaluating program outcomes and supporting fundraising
