Essential Job Duties
Responsibilities Include:
- Strategic Marketing and Communications: Collaborate with the marketing team to implement a strategic marketing and communications plan for NC State University Industry Expansion Solutions and North Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership that advances our mission to provide resources to help the North Carolina manufacturing industry.
- Content Creation: Create original content to promote NC State University Industry Expansion Solutions and North Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership’s resources, programs, initiatives, and events. Plan, research, and write articles and case studies for the websites, newsletters, and social media posts. Develop graphics as needed for social media content. Participate in the development of video content as needed.
- Social Media: Maintain and enhance the NC State University Industry Expansion Solutions and North Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership’s social media presence. Build traffic and audience. Curate, repurpose and integrate content.
- Website Content: Seek opportunities to contribute to and improve website content, SEO keyword identification, and site functionality.
- Newsletters Development: Prepare content for internal and external monthly newsletters to multiple audiences (clients, industry leaders and influencers, partners, faculty, university staff, and co-workers).
- Events Coordination: Support in-person and virtual events with promotional materials, invitations, articles, social media, displays, etc. Includes set-up and staffing at events as needed. Perform photography or videography activities during events. Write summary story of the event to share with photos following the event.
- Networking: Develop and maintain effective working relationships with communications and media colleagues across campus, and press/media across North Carolina to amplify NC State Industry Expansion Solutions and North Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership’s stories, coordinate communications efforts, and learn/share best practices.
- Digital and content asset library: Develop, enhance, and curate the library of social media content and digital images and graphics shared with colleagues. Manage inventory of communications templates, logos, marketing collateral, promotional materials, etc.

Minimum Experience/Education
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

- Excellent writing, storytelling, and editing skills.
- Possess a passion for writing and storytelling.
- Moderate level of skill in graphic design: Illustrator, Photoshop, animation, and video software to create engaging images for social media.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and/or Google suite.
- Experience working with email marketing platforms and content management systems.
- Understand the importance of brand identity and consistency of visuals.
- Knowledge of industry trends for effective use of social media, able to follow trends and adjust as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional experience in marketing, communications, or social media management
- Experience working in the B2B industry, including an understanding of how to adapt communication styles for small-to-medium-size manufacturing businesses
- Experience in public relations and ability to build relationships with media, industry leaders, and influencers
- Experience developing video scripts and story ideas, understands basic video software editing for use on social media platforms
- Experience in graphic design and Illustrator and Photoshop software.
Required License or Certification
- Valid NC driver’s license within 60 days of hire, must be maintained.
