Job Description

10 East is a 26-bed acute care progressive care unit with an average 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio. The patient population consists of high acuity adult medical, cardiac, and neuro/stroke patients. Interventions include, but are not limited to, continuous cardiac monitoring, continuous IV infusions (e.g. insulin, heparin, amiodarone, bumetanide, diltiazem, dopamine, furosemide, milrinone, nicardipine, octreotide), non-invasive mechanical ventilation (BIPAP/CPAP), invasive pressure monitoring, and management of alcohol withdrawal.
10 East Medicine has a broad mix of nursing staff. We have new graduate nurses just starting their journey into the nursing profession as well as season nurses with over 20 years of experience. Our nurses' educational backgrounds vary from ADN to BSN to MSN. Nurses on 10 East Medicine also participate in shared governance at both the unit and organizational levels, contributing to the overall goals of UC San Diego Health's Nursing Strategic Plan, the development of professional nursing practice, and improved quality outcomes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMust be a graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
RN License issued by the State of California.
BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get ART (UC San Diego Health Advanced Resuscitation Training) within six (6) months of hire date.
Must have at least two (2) years of recent acute care RN experience at the IMU/PCU level of care.
Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients.
Strong critical thinking, de-escalation, and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities.
BSN/MSN.
Three (3+) or more years of experience at the IMU/PCU level of care.
Experience with Medicine and/or Cardiac Patient Populations.
PCCN Certification.
Recent experience with navigating and charting within electronic medical records.
Bilingual English/Spanish.
- Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and various locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $170,485 - $170,485 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $81.65 - $81.65
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
