Integral member of the Student Learning Resources Center Leadership Team. Coordinates and manages aspects of part-time tutor hiring, training, scheduling and evaluating for Writing Center tutors in collaboration with the Director of Instructional Support. Ensures all part-time staff and tutors are taught effective teaching and learning strategies in line with college vision. Develop online writing-related materials for students and faculty. Assists with LRC department daily operations and initiatives, particularly scaling writing tutoring services. Attend Communication, Languages & Humanities department team meetings.
Specific Position Duties
Take initiative in modeling and facilitating the dissemination of the department and college culture and information to part-time staff. Seek out and take advantage of resources across the institution to improve the LRC department. Proactively identify challenges, barriers, and areas of opportunity in the LRC and create solutions. Create and implement trainings and workshops for staff and students. Establish and develop inter- and intra-departmental collaborations and serve as LRC liaison to faculty in Communication, Languages & Humanities and other instructional departments. Assist with the development and execution of department projects, initiatives, and operations. Take actions to ensure part-time staff professionalism and LRC environments support and model the department and college vision. Coach part-time staff in conflict resolution and troubleshooting, and intervene as needed. Maintain knowledge of department software.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in English or related field from an accredited institution. Effective written and oral interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to see, analyze, assess, and resolve problems, including personnel concerns. Manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines. Computer competency with Microsoft Office suite and other relevant technology. Demonstrated ability to teach students from a wide spectrum of ages and from diverse cultural and social backgrounds, including high school students who are enrolled in concurrent classes. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Excellent work ethic. Commitment to teaching excellence.
