Essential Job Duties

The Kinga Unocic Research Group in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at North Carolina State University is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Scholar to start December 2024. 

The Postdoc Research Scholars’ primary duties will include: performing high-temperature oxidation testing, characterization of oxidation coupons, and assisting with the lab setup.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with the lab setup
  • Perform high-temperature oxidation testing and monitor sample testing
  • Perform post-characterization
  • Maintain the lab operations
  • Develop METLAB/Python coding

Other Work/Responsibilities

  • Assist with grant writing, bibliographic research and preparation of figures
  • Assist with reporting activities, including collecting and collating results for reports

Work Schedule

M-F, 8:00AM-5:00PM

Department Required Skills

  • Computer word processing, spreadsheet, mapping and other computer-related
    skills
  • MATLAB, or Python
  • Well developed attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety and biosafety practices

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

Experience in laboratory testing, materials characterization, MATLAB, Python,
fabrication
