Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Department of Conferences & Visitor Services (C&VS) represents the University in welcoming visitors; plans and hosts conferences, events, and summer camps; and operates the University of Maryland Welcome Desks.
As a Conferences & Visitor Services (C& VS) department member, the Assistant Director of Support Services will oversee staffing and day-to-day management of the summer housing program and year-round visitor services program. Primary responsibility includes providing oversight of all 24-hour residential service desks and support services during the summer; managing the summer employment program, including recruitment, training, and retention of C&VS student staff; indirectly managing C&VS’ visitor services program, including the welcome desks; providing and supervising direct program management services to clients, and other duties as assigned by the Associate Director, Support Services, about summer housing program and visitor services program. The Assistant Director will also supervise one Program Manager.

- The equivalent of a Master’s degree and five (5) years of full-time management and supervisory experience is also acceptable.
- Experience training/supervising large numbers of staff.
- Experience in a frontline customer service role.
- Experience using technology sufficiently to train others.
- Experience in high-volume service roles.
- Experience supervising young people/college students.
Additional Information:
The salary range is $90,000 – $110,000.
