VS (Vehicle component Solutions) Company (https://www.lg.com/global/mobility) of LG Electronics focuses on commercializing environmentally responsible automotive components and core solutions based on LG's proprietary technologies. A leading provider of core components for global car manufacturers, VS Company is supporting the emerging trend of the vehicle industry.

As the Principal Engineer, you will:

  • Lead technical development and certification processes, ensuring alignment with industry standards like IATF 16949
  • Perform work autonomously while receiving periodic reviews at key milestones
  • Set priorities based on customer deadlines, risk assessments, and project milestones, with significant latitude in decision-making
  • Impact multiple departments, including validation, procurement, and sales, through independent judgment on risk mitigation and technical problem-solving
  • Operate within regulatory and quality guidelines, ensuring compliance with safety and operational targets while contributing to long-term strategic initiatives
  • Manage global responsibilities, overseeing product certification and development that affects both domestic and international markets
  • Collaborate with global teams
  • Demonstrate innovation by proposing process improvements and enhancing workflows, continuously seeking to improve product quality and customer satisfaction
  • Utilize a high degree of latitude to develop new ideas, improving team performance and efficiency across multiple departments
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of automotive manufacturing, certification standards, and risk assessment to guide technical development
  • Work both independently and as part of cross-functional teams, balancing individual technical decisions with collaborative project efforts
  • Frequently communicate with internal teams and external customers via email, MS Teams, and in-person meetings, providing weekly project status updates
  • Negotiate with customers on technical solutions and third-party integrations, balancing requirements with organizational capabilities
  • Lead and mentor cross-functional teams, assigning tasks, managing workflows, and providing technical guidance to engineers
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
  • 10+ Years of relevant experience in technical development and certification, particularly within automotive manufacturing
  • Strong expertise in IATF 16949, APQP, and FMEA
  • Proficiency in both software and hardware troubleshooting
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 30%)
  • Capable of vehicle driving/testing for extended periods (up to 8 hours)
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. for testing and equipment setup
  • Proven track record of leading teams and driving innovative solutions within technical and certification functions

Preferred:

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Korean
