Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Assistant Director will report to the Director of the Finance and Business Services in the Division of Student Affairs and support the Office of the Vice President of Student Affairs (OVPSA) and its units, including Administration, Dean of Students, Development and Family Engagement. The position will manage all internal business operations; all internal/external budgetary, fiscal management requirements; USM/UMCP Foundation account management, Departmental financial operations; and all work with long term financial forecasting for the Student Affairs. This position will also assist the Director in providing financial and business services at the divisional level.
This individual must possess exceptional accounting and financial experience, organizational and analytical skills and the willingness to take initiative and ownership of projects. In addition, the ability to effectively multi-task, delegate and manage priorities across projects is critical. Must have the ability to build and maintain effective relationships and communicate clearly with a wide range of stakeholders.

- Proficiency in the use of accounting database and spreadsheet software and proficient in use of web-based applications

- Ability to analyze and solve problems, make sound decisions, collaborate well and initiate needed changes to work processes to promote the department’s overall effectiveness and efficiency.

- Master’s degree preferred in business administration, public administration, higher education, or related field.
- Knowledge of the business and budgeting practices of the University of Maryland.
Additional Information:
Salary range – $95K – $105K.
