Associate Director LDP/SBA Programs

Job Description

Johns Hopkins Carey Business School is seeking an Associate Director, responsible for the comprehensive management of the Leadership Development Program (LDP) Certificate and the Summer Business Academy (SBA). This role includes program administration, budget oversight, and collaboration with faculty and staff involved in both LDP and SBA. In addition, the Associate Director will act as the principal academic advisor to LDP students. The position demands independent decision-making and the execution of a wide range of duties with minimal supervision.


The Associate Director will work collaboratively with key stakeholders, including the LDP Academic Program Director, the Director of DEIB Community & Corporate Partnerships, Admissions, and Student Affairs, to ensure the effective implementation of LDP and SBA initiatives. They will also engage with the Flex MBA team on various aspects of the LDP program, such as organizing LDP residencies and developing a student pipeline from LDP to the Flex MBA.


This role is primarily based in Harbor East, with travel to the Washington, DC campus. Flexibility to work during off-hours and weekends is required to meet program needs.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Efficiently and effectively manage all aspects of the Leadership Development Program (LDP) Certificate, and Summer Business Academy.
  • Work collaboratively with Assistant Director of Flex Residencies & Student Events in the planning and implementation of LDP events and residencies.
  • Develop and maintain a student pipeline from SBA to LDP to Flex MBA program.
  • Work collaboratively with Carey Admissions in strategizing and implementing recruitment efforts for LDP program.
  • Lead monthly LDP program meetings with staff and faculty stakeholders from various departments.
  • Manage program budgets in collaboration with the Sr. Associate Director of Flex MBA and LDP Academic Program Director.
  • Participate in the development of the annual budget and projections.
  • Develop and implement solutions to improve the on-site and online student experience for LDP and SBA programs.
  • Collaborate with Career & Life Design, Student Affairs, Academic Advising, Experiential Learning, Admissions and DAR, and other units to provide support to LDP and SBA students.
  • Ensure all LDP students meet program requirements.
  • Evaluate and advise on long-range planning, new programs, and strategies.
  • Manage annual review process for LDP and SBA programs including collection of internal data and benchmarking against competitor programs.
  • Provide yearly program updates on LDP and SBA to Carey Leadership and Underrepresented Groups Advisory Board (URG).
  • Develop the operating procedures, protocols and flow charts for planning and organization of the program activities for LDP and SBA.
  • Design LDP and SBA program assessment and evaluation tools, track and document program progress, challenges, and areas for improvement.
  • Design and manage the continuous program improvement cycle.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Admissions, and Development & Alumni Relations on engagement and promotional activities related to the LDP and SBA programs.
  • Serve as the liaison among teaching faculty, administrative offices, and students.


Other Duties as Assigned

  • As part of the Flex MBA programs and advising team, contribute and collaborate as needed on major Flex MBA projects as directed by the Sr. Associate Director of Flex MBA Programs.
  • Work collaboratively with MS Programs to support the Carey Partner Pathways Program
  • Provide support to other programs as needed.
  • Serve on school-wide committees and attend major campus events (i.e., graduation, Career Development events, etc.).
  • Other duties as needed.


Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proven ability to work effectively in multi-cultural environments, with experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion programs.
  • Knowledge of academic programs, online learning, student advising, and program management in higher education.
  • Self-starter with the ability to set goals, make independent decisions, and lead teams with minimal oversight.
  • Skilled in managing multiple projects, anticipating challenges, and overseeing program budgets.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across diverse groups, contributing to team success.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, proactive in staying informed and solving challenges.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite for analysis, information management, and presentations.
  • Knowledge of the programs at the Carey Business School (preferred)


Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree is required, preferably in student affairs, higher education, counseling, or related fields.
  • Three years of relevant advising experience required.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in program management and/or administration in a business and/or academic environment.
  • Experience advising and counseling students
  • Experience with pipeline programs, serving underrepresented minorities, or first-generation students.
  • Experience and passion for inclusion and equity work and programming for student populations.

Starting Salary Range: $55,200 - $96,600 annually ($75,000 targeted; commensurate with experience) 
Employee group: Full Time 
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30-5:00 with some evenings and weekends to support programming 
Exempt Status: Exempt
