Job Description
OFFICE AND PROGRAM ASSISTANT, Priscilla King Gray (PKG) Public Service Center, to assume an integral role at the PKC center and provide comprehensive administrative support to the center, MIT students, colleagues, partners, and others. Will manage the daily administrative, financial, and operational functions of the center; provide logistical and event support across the center’s portfolio of programs; and offer administrative support to the associate dean and director and the assistant dean of community-based programs.
The PKG Center, housed in MIT’s Office of the Vice Chancellor, taps and expands MIT students’ unique skills and interests to prepare them to explore and address complex social and environmental challenges, including health equity, using technology for social good, climate change, and racial justice. The center educates students to collaborate ethically and effectively with community partners to engage in meaningful public service, today and in their lives beyond MIT. Will join a team of eight full-time staff and a cohort of graduate assistants from local universities.
REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; at least three years of events support, administrative, or related experience; excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills; ability to prioritize and complete tasks on-time and with attention to detail; ability and willingness to work independently, support others, collaborate, and take initiative; appreciation for cross-cultural and social justice issues and ability to work with diverse populations; and ability to maneuver supplies/resources weighing up to 25 lbs. PREFERRED: experience in higher education or other mission-driven environments, experience working with undergraduate and/or graduate students, budget and accounting experience, and an interest is public service and social impact. Hiring range: $25.00 - 29.00 hour, based on experience and internal equity
This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position with a hybrid schedule.
