TITLE: Associate Dean of Continuing Education and Workforce Development

DEPARTMENT: Continuing Education and Workforce Development (CEWD)

 

FUNCTION:

 

In collaboration with the Vice President of Continuing Education and Workforce Development, assists in the design and delivery of Continuing Education and

Workforce Development (CEWD) programs and course offerings, focusing on certifications and licensing in health professions and other professional fields. Demonstrates leadership through the development and expansion of innovative programs tailored to prepare students for a variety of career opportunities that require specific credentials. This role involves fostering a collaborative environment, leading operations, providing administrative and instructional leadership to instructors, and conceptualizing as well as executing a strategic plan for Continuing Education credential programs. The Associate Dean of Continuing Education and  orkforce Development embraces the mission of the College while enhancing and optimizing the efficiency of service delivery and assuring programs are in compliance with local, state and federal regulatory agency requirements.

 

REPORTS TO: Vice President, Continuing Education and Workforce Development

SUPERVISES: Division staff as assigned

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Coordinates, administers, manages, and evaluates Continuing Education credential programs and courses, including Health Professions.

2. Designs and organizes new educational credential programs and courses to meet local and regional community needs.

3. Develops and assesses curriculum, program outcomes, and student learning outcomes for Continuing Education credential programs in collaboration with instructors.

4. Collaborates with the Grants Department to develop and write grant proposals and employer partner contracts for funding and workforce partnerships.

5. Supervises CEWD health professions and credentialed program instructors, recruits and mentors them, assesses their performance, and manages their payroll.

6. Collaborates closely with the Vice President of Continuing Education to support the development of clear pathways from non-credit credential programs to credit courses.

7. Creates marketing and promotional strategies for the programs and courses responsible for.

8. Ensures compliance with criteria set by state agencies, national industry associations, and accreditation agencies.

9. Works with instructors to ensure students meet their learning and career goals.

10. Reviews, maintains, and evaluates the budget for credential programs responsible for. Works with the Vice President of Continuing Education to allocate funds for CEWD Professional Credential Programs.

11. Attends workshops, courses, meetings, professional development, and other activities to further divisional objectives.

12. Implements College and divisional policies and procedures.

13. Performs additional tasks or duties as assigned by the Vice President of Continuing Education and Workforce Development or other designated management.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in creating and managing career development programs with a focus on health professions and other licensed and credentialed fields.
  • Understanding of curriculum, evaluation, needs assessment, and marketing for Professional Credential courses and programs.
  • Proficient in project management, overseeing the scheduling of courses, securing qualified instructors as needed, managing input into the registration system, and ensuring continuous availability of courses for registration.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, learning management systems (e.g., Canvas), customer relationship management (CRM) software, and other relevant technology tools.
  • Capable of budgeting for courses by accurately assessing associated costs, adhering to budgetary constraints, and conducting profitability calculations to ensure financial viability.
  • Proven organizational, supervisory, administrative, communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Exhibits excellent customer service to a diverse population, demonstrating an understanding of equity best practices and the community college mission.

 

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree with a Master’s Degree preferred.

 

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience developing, managing, and evaluating post-secondary educational courses. Experience in healthcare education is preferred but not essential.
  • Proven ability to conduct comprehensive business analyses, including market research, financial assessments, and performance evaluations, to inform strategic decision-making and enhance program offerings and outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success in cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with external companies and organizations to facilitate student internships and clinical placements in health professions..
