CALM is looking for a collaborative, proactive Human Resources Generalist to join its Human Resources team. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, this integral role will execute on day-to-day people operations responsibilities for CALM's three sites in Santa Barbara, Lompoc, and Santa Maria. In this role, you will support leadership and their teams across recruiting, benefits, compensation, employee relations, learning and development, safety, and employee engagement, ensuring people strategy aligns with organizational goals.
Requirements:- Own the end-to end onboarding, orientation, and exit processes, ensuring a thoughtful and informed experience for new hires and departing employees.
- Manage and coordinate the recruiting process, including uploading job descriptions, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and tracking various metrics.
- Partner with the Director of HR to assess, improve and implement HR strategies that promote employee engagement, retention, and performance.
- Partner with leadership to effectively manage complex people issues, identifying, investigating, and resolving challenges, concerns, and complaints.
- Drive engagement with initiatives, events and communications that continue to build our culture across all our worksites.
- Be a sponsor and champion for initiatives aimed at fostering belonging and inclusion.
- Deliver a great employee experience by providing support for all employee inquiries including benefits, payroll, policies and leave management.
- Assist CALM's safety committee in safety planning, safety compliance and safety education of CALM staff.
- Collaborate with leadership to plan, develop, and implement learning and development opportunities for CALM employees and management as needed.
- Manage compliance processes and reporting for State and Federal requirements, Worker's Compensation, and Unemployment.
- Process employment verifications and maintain employee records.
- Manage the employee benefits programs including medical, dental, retirement plans and liaise with CALM's insurance brokers.
- Complete other human resources related projects and duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
- 3+ years' of HR/People Operations experience. Experience working in a non-profit organization or mental health organization a plus!
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Human Resources or a related field from a four-year accredited college or university.
- HR Certification preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of human resources management including current Federal and State employment law.

- Strong computer skills, and experience using various types of software, including zoom, Microsoft Office, an HRIS, and other web-based systems, and are comfortable learning new technology platforms.

- Proven skills in problem-solving, resourcefulness and decision-making with good judgment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ethics, and demonstrated ability to develop & maintain productive relationships across employee groups.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus!
- Must have a valid driver's license, clean DMV record and criminal record clearance from the DOJ

- Stand, walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Drive from one location to another
- Lift and /or move up to 20 pounds at times
