We are seeking to recruit a Chief of Pediatric Hospital Medicine at UCSD and RCHSD. The Department is interested in renowned leaders who have a commitment to excellence in clinical innovation, teaching, and research.
The Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine cares for over 6,000 children admitted to the Rady Children's main and community sites. The Division is the oldest in North America and is the sole provider of hospital medicine services at RCHSD. RCHSD is the only children's hospital serving San Diego, southwest Riverside and Imperial Counties, and surrounding areas with a catchment area of approximately 800,000 children.
The Division Chief will report to the Chair of the Department and work closely with the other Division Chiefs and Vice Chairs in the Department of Pediatrics. The Division Chief will oversee the clinical, research, and educational activities of the Division, lead recruiting efforts, and ensure career mentoring for all faculty and fellows in the Division. The Division Chief will also be expected to support the mission of delivering high-quality care, teaching, and scholarly activities while promoting an environment that supports diversity, equity, and inclusivity among faculty, students, and staff.
The appropriate series and appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background and experience.

As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities, and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Candidates must have an MD or equivalent, or MD/PhD in health-related fields.
Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Pediatric Hospital Medicine. Candidates must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the California Medical Board.
Candidates must have at least three years of demonstrable leadership experience.
Candidates with at least five years of experience in leading a Pediatric division are preferred.
