Job Description:
The Innovation Laboratory is a group of experimental and computational scientists in the Marie-Josée and Henry R. Kravis Center for Molecular Oncology (CMO). Our team is focused on the creation and optimization of genomic and molecular assays to drive precision oncology. In addition to assay creation, the lab evaluates emerging technologies for potential clinical utility and conducts exploratory research in collaboration with clinical and translational investigators. We are looking for an outstanding wet lab research scientist to join our team. The right candidate will be curious and inquisitive with a strong interest in developing and applying genomic and multi-omic laboratory techniques.
You Are:
- A quick learner, and able to apply insights from past efforts to new situations
- Capable of building strong collaborative relationships and working with others
- A good decision-maker, with proven success at making timely decisions that keep your own work and that of your team moving forward
- Effective at working when presented with sophisticated information
- Organized and can prioritize work to meet commitments aligned with priorities
- A communicator, capable of determining how best to reach different audiences and implementing communications based on that understanding
You Will:
- Work with the Innovation team to provide support to research projects
- Triage new technologies, with the goal of optimizing and implementing those that show potential for near-term clinical utility
- Design, develop, and implement novel and clinically relevant laboratory techniques
- Work collaboratively with the informatics team in the analysis of genomic and other multi-omic data generated by the group
- Help facilitate collaborations and research opportunities with scientists and clinicians at MSK
You Need:
- A proven track record of innovation and creative thinking
- Solid molecular biology wet lab skills, mixed with curiosity and creativity
- Extensive research experience in the biological sciences – a thorough understanding of cancer biology is preferred
- Experience with next-generation sequence tools and approaches
- To work both independently and collaboratively and make necessary connections with experts in various biological and clinical groups
- To be highly motivated with excellent oral and written English communication skills – experience in delivering oral scientific presentations and writing scientific articles is strongly preferred
