Kleinfelder is seeking a Materials Testing and Inspection Business Development Manager!
Kleinfelder is seeking an externally focused Materials Testing and Inspection Business Development Leader to help drive growth throughout Southern California. In this position, you will be responsible for leading business development activities for our Construction Materials Engineering and Testing service line across multiple markets, meeting with clients and teaming partners, participating in professional external organizations, identifying new opportunities, planning and positioning to win opportunities, providing Request for Proposal analysis and go/no-go decisions, and leading pursuit teams from the pre-proposal phase through shortlist interview and contract award.

Abilities of the Ideal Candidate:
- Outgoing personality and outward focused.
- Excellent grasp of marketing fundamentals, visual communications, and knowledge of theoretical and practical developments in the A/E/C industry (experience in the A/E/C market is required).
- The ability to develop "win themes" and integrate them throughout a proposal.
- Strong grammar, writing, and editing skills.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple assignments under set deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to provide critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Have a "client service" mindset and work in close partnership with technical professionals (engineers, scientists, and construction professionals).
- Have strong verbal communication skills and ability to organize, prepare for, and facilitate bi-weekly marketing meetings.
- Can work independently, collaboratively as part of a team, and in conjunction with senior management/executive staff.
- Flexible and adaptive to changing priorities, deadlines, and direction in a dynamic work environment.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure Kleinfelder exceeds client expectations through frequent communication with targeted clients and Kleinfelder's Construction Materials Engineering and Testing delivery teams.
- Identifies and develops project opportunities for new work and/or expanded services for new and established clients.
- Engages with Kleinfelder's Construction Materials Engineering and Testing delivery teams to ensure project sales, revenue, and margins meet projected thresholds.
- Coordinates project delivery and proposal teams with clear and succinct communication as to the client requirements and differentiation strategy.
- Develops and maintains client relationships to identify new opportunities in additional service lines or expanded geographies.
- Identifies opportunities and takes action to build relationships between one's area and other areas, teams, departments, units, or organizations to help achieve business goals; shares information and solicits feedback.
- Handles customer questions and complaints, communicates with customers, handles service problems politely and efficiently, always available for customers, follows procedure to solve customer problems, understands company products and services, maintains pleasant and professional image.
- Recognizes problems and responds, systematically gathers information, sorts through complex issues, seeks input from others, addresses root cause of issues, makes timely decisions, uses consensus when possible, and communicates decisions to others.
- Understands the organization's mission and functions, and how its social, political, and technological systems work and operate effectively within them; this includes the programs, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations of the organization.
- Develops proposal strategies that utilize the Company's strengths and innovative thinking to gain a competitive advantage.
Position Competencies and Requirements:
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Able to communicate effectively with a variety of people.
- Customer service oriented.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Experience with CRM is highly desirable; Deltek preferred.
Experience & Academic Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree or equivalent desired (Civil Engineering preferred).
- Experience: 15+ years of related experience, with 10+ years of professional marketing and/or sales experience, and 6 years of management experience required with a consulting engineering firm or related business.

Benefits: Kleinfelder offers an excellent compensation and benefits package, including: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) plan, and paid holidays. The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the California Pay Scale Disclosure Law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Salary range: $149,877 - $224,816 annually.
