Officer, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (Hybrid)

Position Overview:

As the Officer, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, you would be part of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) department, an organization-wide strategic priority and, as such, you will be a thought partner and trusted advisor for your clients.

As a valued team member, you will work closely with the organization's vice president of DEI, Employee Resource Groups, and DEI committees. In addition, you will support the development and implementation of a project management process for various components of DEI priorities across teams, and more broadly across the institution, by tracking and measuring progress toward DEI goals. This individual will provide support in the management of DEI related leadership education and training programs; manage cohort-based learning experiences; and coordinate the research and evaluation of DEI work.

The position reports to the vice president, diversity, equity and inclusion and will be based in Pew's Washington, DC office, and is eligible for hybrid work.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the vice president of DEI, develop and implement holistic internal and external inclusion, diversity, and equity strategies.
  • Serve as an institutional resource to colleagues and teams regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion; facilitate conversations, focus groups, and trainings about diversity, equity and inclusion to internal and external audiences.
  • Assist with the management of process-oriented goals, including tracking DEI metrics and programmatic efforts and accomplishments across the organization.
  • Foster and cultivate external relationships with relevant networks and partnerships to enhance DEI awareness and inform, educate, and align institutional/ programmatic work with the larger organizational goals for diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Provide support to employee resource groups that support mentoring, a sense of community, well-being, and business objectives.
  • Provide support for DEI programmatic design, execution, and evaluation.
  • Serve on organization-wide committees and perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Manage the expenditure of funds in accordance with approved budget.
  • Create day-to-day project management strategies, templates, reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Generally, 8 years demonstrated experience with leading practices in embedding DEI across a non-profit organization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of developmental models of organizational development, leadership development, and adult learning theory as essential tools/resources used to create systemic culture change.
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively, manage multiple priorities, adjust to changing circumstances, organize time efficiently, and remain attentive to details.
  • Proven experience conceptualizing, building, and leading new programs and initiatives.
  • Exceptional project management abilities
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating groups while navigating challenging conversations around race and identity, including making presentations to senior leaders.
  • Proven ability to build productive relationships across teams; collaborative communications; inclusive practices; stretch goal setting and successful outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience with the development of written materials with attention to details, including facilitation guides, training presentations, and survey reports.
  • Proficiency in the standard and advanced use of the following applications and programs is preferred: Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Teams, Zoom, Dropbox, MailChimp, Mural, ASANA, JotForm


Travel
Occasional travel, including business meetings and conferences as required.
