Position Title: Program Manager, Special Projects
Location: Onsite (Raleigh, North Carolina)
Position End Date: 6/30/23
Salary: $80,000 plus benefits
 

Overview:
 

An ideal candidate for this role has juggled multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, maintained a high level of professionalism, and crafted timely communications to and from multiple stakeholders, always taking the stakeholders’ needs into account. The candidate will support priority projects and actions. This position provides an excellent opportunity to improve organizational, project management, and audience-centered writing skills, in addition to building a strong knowledge base about work with state and local health jurisdictions.
 

This role supports the Assistant Division Director and/or Chief Medical Examiner, Division of Public Health, NCDHHS as needed with communication, talking points, gathering materials, preparing written responses, drafting emails, coordination with internal stakeholders, tracking meeting follow ups, and answering constituent emails. Translates and synthesizes simply complex information for diverse audiences and supports leadership in elevating communication and strategy. Support leadership as pertains to public health response and ad hoc requests related to public health crises and events.
 

Qualifications:
 

  • Master’s Degree, preferably in Public Health, or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years of experience. Additional years of experience may be applied in lieu of a Master’s Degree.
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills to synthesize, comprehend, and recapitulate complex information.
  • Strong writing and communications skills.
  • Demonstrated project management, organization and planning skills applied in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Proven decision making and problem-solving capabilities with strong follow up skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong self-direction and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with many teams and organizations on a diverse set of topics.
  • Demonstrated responsibility and leadership in a public health or related program.
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders, demonstrating customer service and servant leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently and supporting a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in a complex environment while balancing multiple competing priorities.
  • Strong judgment and decision making, analytical skills; business intuition and acumen.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
 

Responsibilities:
 

  • Fosters and maintains peer-to-peer relationships with subject matter experts, donors, partners, and other stakeholders aimed at efficient and effective program implementation.
  • Serves as program liaison for and between internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide project management across divisions, offices, and programs to identify opportunities for cross linkages and synergies and implement coordinated solutions to important Division wide challenges aligned with the Division’s strategic plan.
  • Assist in the establishment of goals, objectives, and timelines for key cross functional programs and initiatives that advance the Department’s strategic plan.
  • Serve as a liaison between programs involved in a special project or strategic initiative.
  • Coordinate and oversee the development of briefing materials in preparation of speeches, talking points, slides, emails, and memos.
  • Conduct literature reviews and research as needed to inform programmatic opportunities.
  • Provide administrative and analytical support for case escalations.
  • Attend key meetings and track follow up items.

This role is involved in a dynamic public health program. As such, roles and responsibilities are subject to change as situations evolve. Roles and responsibilities listed above may be expanded upon or updated to match priorities and needs, once written approval is received by both the CDC Foundation and North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services in order to best support the State of North Carolina in their public health programming.
 

This position is currently an onsite position. CDC Foundation retains the right to make adjustments to this as required.
