Job Description

Position:  Executive Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications

The Executive Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications is responsible for the development, management and oversight of the strategic marketing, branding, communications and public relations efforts of the college including:

Digital/social media, College-wide virtual events and in-person event support, Website development and management

Portal development and management, Media relations, Internal messaging and communications, External messaging and communications, Advertising, Public relations, Market research and Publications design.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop, implement, evaluate and refine a comprehensive marketing strategy designed to help RCC advance and achieve key institutional goals.
  • Use Innovative marketing strategies to build relationships, enhance institutional reputation and strengthen the RCC brand.
  • Develop and assess measurable goals and objectives that advance the RCC strategic plan. Work with the VP of Institutional Advancement, Communications and External Relations to develop the Division’s goals and objectives and the execution of the plan.
  • With Institutional Research, plan and conduct market research to be used in strategic marketing planning
  • Direct the daily activities of the Strategic Marketing and Communications Department to achieve maximum impact with various constituencies including current students, prospective students, policy makers, opinion leaders, employees and donors.
  • Build a culture of collaboration with internal partners including Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, Economic Mobility and Workforce Innovation and Academic Affairs and all Divisions of the College.  Provide promotional support: including communications, website portal, social media, collateral material, ect., in alignment with the College’s priority.
  • Serve as a communications advisor to the President and Vice Presidents.  Work with external public relations consultants at the direction of the VP of Advancement.
  • Manage the budget to support the Strategic Marketing and Communications Department.
  • Lead, motivate, supervise, evaluate, manage and support all communications and marketing staff and teams.
  • This position reports to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Communications and External Relations and exercises direct supervision over employees.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree required. At least 8 years of work experience in project management, marketing, communications and/or business, and a minimum of five years of experience in an executive role. Proven record in leading multi-disciplinary projects and strategic planning. Experience working with a broad range of stakeholders, with specific expertise in public-private partnership

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Master’s Degree. Proven passion for Higher Education through professional engagement, and a personal sense of urgency about the need to address the goals and objectives as directed by the President/CEO. Success in executing a complex portfolio of strategic initiatives with business, government, and/or non-governmental organizations, including passion for promoting and supporting startup programs. Outstanding interpersonal skills. Executive bearing and personal presence to represent initiatives persuasively and with authority to senior administrators and external clientele.

Starting Salary:    $106,000 - $120,000
