Responsibilities*

Transportation staff will arrive at the unit with the transport vehicle (i.e. stretcher or wheelchair) specified at the time of request, stop at the Nursing station to retrieve chart and/or card, report to patient room, greet the patient by name, identify the patient by armband, introduce themselves to the parents, patient and nursing staff as appropriate.  Assist the patient and/or nursing with the physical transfer of the patient onto the vehicle and transport patient to the appointment.  Bodies of deceased patients will be transported to the Morgue by transport personnel.

Required Qualifications*

  • High school diploma, GED or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to perform a wide range of physical activities including: pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching, etc.
  • Must be able to read and write English.

Work Schedule

This position may require working day shift, afternoon shift, midnight shift, weekends, and holidays.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.

Vaccine Requirements

COVID-19 vaccinations are required for all students, faculty and staff working in the following areas: Michigan Medicine including the Medical School, Dental School, University Health Service or the Mary A.
