Primary Purpose:


Oversees Electric distribution inspection activities and resources responsible for the inspection of distribution utility infrastructure and related facilities, performed by contracted vendors and internal employees (primarily represented). Manages internal staff and ensures budget compliance in accordance with project plans and documents. Oversees inspections activities to ensure that construction standards, safety regulations, company policies/procedures, environmental requirements, and State/Federal regulations are met.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises staff responsible for inspection of electric facilities. Assesses and distributes workload assignments based on work plan and organization resources. Hires, trains, motivates, mentors, and manages the personnel performing inspections. Develops metrics, sets goals, and targets, and creates a culture of accountability.
  • Monitors accurate staffing, equipment and fleet requirements, work schedules and work assignments. Manages resource allocations (contractor assignments), Request For Proposals (RFPs) and recommendations for project assignments and revisions. Provides approval of required field documentation for invoice payment. Reviews daily record of progress, monitors and streamlines communication, conducts intermittent site meetings, monitors Inspector performance.
  • Manages and prioritizes electric distribution inspections activities and related work assignments to support immediate operational and long-term vision and strategy leading to the successful completion of work and to mitigate risks. Assesses and distributes assignments to inspections teams based on compliance, priority, and resources. Continually monitors and evaluates compliance deadlines, available resources, and priorities of all stakeholders. Attends coordination meetings and monitors schedule, productivity, and quality. Solves problems and handles escalated issues in a timely and decisive manner to ensure success.
  • Facilitates safety meetings, morning tailgates, team meetings and compliance training. Oversees quality assurance/quality control implementation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).


Required Qualifications:

  • H.S. Diploma/GED.
  • 8 years Distribution Electric Construction, Inspection or QA/QC experience.
  • Knowledgeable of utility electric procedures, standards, materials and equipment.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical, judgment and administrative skills.
  • May be required to work extended hours and on weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree Business Administration, Construction Management or Engineering desired or equivalent field experience in electric construction or operation.
  • 2 years Experience supervising employees including performance management, training and development.
  • Utility construction experience (i.e. Construction Supervisor, Lineman, or Line/Gas Foreman).d
  • Journeyman lineman construction and maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge and experience regarding GO 165 and GO 95.
  • Proficient in the use Microsoft Office suite of applications. Experience with CPD and SAP.
  • Ability to lead and manage teams, set priorities, delegate tasks, provide feedback and ensure the successful accomplishment of goals.
  • Qualified Electrical Worker.
