Position Description

Under supervision, the Equity Programs Student Liaison performs responsible, varied, and specialized support to specific Chaffey College student populations. This position should demonstrate knowledge and understanding about unique issues that impact historically underserved student populations and programs, including but not limited to UMOJA, The Puente Project, and A2MEND as well as a knowledge and understanding of intersectionality.

Responsibilities


Duties may include, but are not limited to:
 
  • Develop a strong sense of awareness and understanding of the experiences of historically underserved students and their communities by providing resources and tools for the college community to better support its these students individually and/or collectively.
  • Establish partnerships on and off campus to create and implement programs and services to address and support the persistence, retention, and success rates of students in programs such as UMOJA, The Puente Project, and A2MEND.
  • Create and update annual digital resource guide of programs and services (both on and off campus) to address historically underserved students' needs related to access, persistence, retention, and graduation.
  • Serve as liaison to historically underserved students to campus resources, specifically warm hand off to counseling, advising, career development, wellness, mentorship, academic needs assessment, high school outreach, crisis intervention, and retention.
  • Provides technical assistance in requisition processing.
  • Refer students to on campus and community services for needs and emergencies through college partner.
  • Participate as facilitator/resource for campus wide trainings.
  • Works closely and meets regularly with students and their affiliated student organizations and campus support groups.
  • Update the student resource website page for UMOJA, the Puente Project, and A2MEND.
  • Assist in the development and hosting of programs, events, and services to provide holistic support to historically underserved students.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality to protect the identity of students and their families, in accordance with FERPA.
  • Foster a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for prospective and current students from historically underserved backgrounds.
  • Perform related duties as required.
 

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Two (2) years of increasingly responsible job-related experience in the area of working with historically underserved student populations and programs, including but not limited to UMOJA, The Puente Project, and A2MEND.
Bachelor's Degree
Demonstrated commitment to social justice, cultural humility, diversity, and the ability to work in a multicultural environment
Knowledge in subject matter expertise required on historically underserved student population's needs and issues, federal, state and community college policies relevant to historically underserved and mixed status students and student development theory
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding about unique issues that impact historically underserved students including but not limited to UMOJA, The Puente Project, and A2MEND and students from mixed-status families
Demonstrated evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds in a community college environment.

Working hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30am - 4:30pm.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a full-time, 12-month, classified bargaining unit position. Starting date: as soon as possible. Range 25 of the CSEA Salary Schedule, with a starting salary of Step A, $5,546. Excellent benefit package.

Being able and ready to work onsite at a Chaffey facility or location is an essential function of this job. Being able and ready to work in-person with Chaffey students, Chaffey employees, or other members of the Chaffey community/Chaffey partners/Chaffey contractors is an essential function of this job.
