Job Description:

The Department of Health, Human Performance & Physical Education is seeking an energetic and engaging Adjunct Faculty member to teach the following classes:

  • Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED
  • Swimming for Fitness
  • Learn to Swim

The incumbent will provide classroom instruction in basic life support training and responding to emergencies, as well as pool-related instruction in the skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies.  Responsibilities include teaching swimming skills and individual physical fitness, as well as rhythmic breathing and stroke development. 

 

 


Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess the following:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a health-related field;
  • 1 year of teaching experience;
  • Red Cross Certification for Lifeguard and Lifeguard Instructor;
  • Certification as a Water Safety Instructor.

All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A Master's degree in a health-related field is strongly preferred.  At least 1 year of teaching experience, Blackboard/Brightspace experience and 5+ years actively working in the field is also strongly preferred.


Additional Information:

HOURLY RATE OF PAY: $82.57 per hour. No benefits.

POSITION EFFECTIVE: Fall 2022
