The University of Michigan School of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, seeks outstanding candidates for a tenure-track faculty position with a focus in ophthalmic epidemiology and health equity. This is an outstanding opportunity, including the potential for a named Professorship for appropriate candidates.

Candidates applying for the rank of assistant professor are welcome to apply for what will be a primary appointment in the Department of Ophthalmology with a joint appointment in an appropriate social science department in the School of Public Health such as Epidemiology.

The position is for the instructional tenure track and is full-time. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with experience and academic credentials. Required Qualifications*

M.D., hold or have the ability to obtain the appropriate medical licenses in the state of Michigan, and be Board-eligible or Board-certified in Ophthalmology.  Evidence of clinical competency and competency in clinical and didactic teaching is also expected. Completed subspecialty fellowship training is highly desirable.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
