Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute, A. James Clark School of Engineering, University of Maryland, seeks to hire a Program Coordinator to provide professional administrative support to the events and partnerships team. This position will operate primarily as the administrative and operational support for xFoundry@UMD. The duties of this position include managing meeting and event schedules; making travel arrangements for staff and visitors; scheduling and taking minutes for meetings; assisting with event logistics for meetings, weekly seminars, public events, and conferences with local and international collaborators and donors; general office management and operations; project management support; handling highly confidential and/or sensitive documents and other administrative tasks.

This position does not provide sponsorship for visas.

Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities with little supervision in a fast-paced, high-output environment.
  • Experience in oversight of projects, deadlines and using task management software
  • Strong written and verbal skills, including copywriting, editing, and use of proper etiquette for formal communication.
  • Previous experience hosting small to midsize in-person events
  • Excellent customer service skills, as well as the use of independent judgment, initiative, writing, and editing skills to prepare correspondence and meeting minutes
  • Ability to quickly learn new software applications and interested in utilizing new software services
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Google, and Adobe Suite.
  • Highly organized and task-oriented with strong attention to detail
  • Basic digital office management including, but not limited to, budgeting, expenses, and inventory

Preferences:

Preferences:
  • Minimum four (4) years of experience in an upper-level Assistant or event coordinator position is highly preferred
  • Background in communications, business, marketing, or event management
  • Experience working with c-suites, executive offices, or other high-level stakeholders

Additional Information:
The salary range is $30/hr—$35/hr. This position is for 40 hours/week. It is an exempt, hourly contractual position that includes a State of Maryland health benefit subsidy.

This is a hybrid role, reporting in person to UMD College Park at least 4 days per week.

Occasional weekend and evening hours are required.
