Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of University Transportation, the Operations Manager
assists in supervising a multi-faceted University Transportation service
transporting 230,000 passengers annually. Responsibilities include on-boarding,
training, and supervising over 120 student workers to ensure operational
compliance; overseeing the maintenance of all University vehicles under the
purview of the Department of University Transportation; scheduling and
monitoring all department services, including the intercampus transportation
shuttle, airport services, charter services, and athletic trip requests; helping keep
our data organized with our online reservation system, fleet management, and
personnel file platforms; answering emergencies promptly, such as student
worker issues and vehicle accidents.
Essential Functions
∙ Assists the Director in operating a transportation service available to the
entire Fordham University community. Services include inter-campus
transportation, athletics travel, charter, and airport services on select days.
∙ Supervises and trains over 120 student drivers and part-time maintenance
personnel.
∙ Oversees the maintenance of all vehicles in the department’s fleet.
∙ Ensures that all university-certified drivers comply with insurance
guidelines and regulations from our department and insurance provider.
∙ Coordinates the operation and provide on-site supervision of morning,
afternoon, weekend, and or evening shifts of Fordham’s intercampus
shuttle service.
∙ Trains written and road tests on the safe operation of a 15-passenger van.
Coordinates with the Director on department operations, including
customer service, account management, safety training, DMV regulations
and license checking, compliance, scheduling, and communications.
∙ Serves as a spokesperson for the department at major University events.

student workers. Organizes, sets priorities, schedules and reviews work, but is
generally not responsible for final decisions in hiring, performance management

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
∙ Bachelor’s degree
∙ Minimum of one year of experience in the transportation or logistics field

∙ Must show a high level of professionalism and have the ability to work with
various constituents (students, administrators, and faculty) in a team-
oriented fashion.

Preferred Qualifications
Minimum Starting Salary: $62,400
Maximum Starting Salary: $64,400
Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
