As a Supplemental Instructor for an Athletic Team, your main role in the Student Learning Resources (SLR) department is to support and monitor student academic progress. A Supplemental Instructor (SI) provides and helps integrate effective learning and study strategies, while at the same time helping to clarify and/or reinforce course content, assignments,
and materials.
Specific Position Duties
• Create and maintain a study hall schedule for Athletic Team.
• Make appropriate student referrals to college offices, departments or professionals when necessary.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date record of student attendance.
• Attend and complete tutor training and development sessions.
• Develop a good understanding and knowledge of college services, supports, and resources.
• Meet with Athletic Coach/Trainer to discuss student needs.
• Make appropriate student referrals to college offices, departments or professionals when necessary.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date record of student attendance.
• Attend and complete tutor training and development sessions.
• Develop a good understanding and knowledge of college services, supports, and resources.

• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
• Reliable transportation from Odessa College to tutoring site (athletic facility Graham Center Ranch in Gardendale).
Ability to keep composure and focus while maintaining constructive and positive interactions.
• Friendly demeanor that projects accessibility and tenacity to problem-solve with the student.
